Times they are a Changin’

Baby boomers are people born during the demographic Post–World War II baby boom between the years 1946 and 1964. Baby boomers is also a term that can be used culturally.
Baby boomers are associated with a rejection or redefinition of traditional values; however, many commentators have disputed the extent of that rejection, noting the widespread continuity of values with older and younger generations. In Europe and North America boomers are widely associated with privilege, as many grew up in a time of widespread government subsidies in post-war housing and education, and increasing affluence.
As a group, they were the wealthiest, most active, and most physically fit generation up to that time, and amongst the first to grow up genuinely expecting the world to improve with time. They were also the generation that received peak levels of income; therefore, they could reap the benefits of abundant levels of food, apparel, retirement programs, and sometimes even “midlife crisis” products. The increased consumerism for this generation has been regularly criticized as excessive.

This article comes via Wikipedia search for the phrase “baby boomer”. I was interested in this because my parents are from that generation. The generation that actually made up the label ‘generation’. And today I was pondering that generation of people. The generation of people that have taught us consumerism, bulk, excess, & their definition of wealth. The generation ‘baby boom’ people who are currently running our country. Defining & influencing all other generations that they have passed through.

The baby boom has been described variously as a “shockwave” and as “the pig in the python.”

All of that is a bit to ponder on. It has dramatic undertones and serious implications, and if we would stop and observe all that is cluttered in the world around us we would begin to understand.

My dad, who was born in ’54, says he has seen it all in this country. He says he has lived through the best times, and he is now living through the worst times. Times today that are being driven toward the future by more of that booming generation’s influence. This influence has caused, among other things: labeling, mutilation of the freedom of speech, redefinition of traditional values (values that have kept this country together for over 200 years), the insane notion that the government really has our best interests at heart, obesity, radical redirection of values, complete with outbursts of:  ‘I want what I want. I want more and I want it now!’.

History is being rewritten right before our eyes. The constitution. The flags. The churches. Public schools. Privacy rights. All of these things, and more, are being changed. These are things that the boomer generation were able to experience. They were taught different ideas and history than younger generations today are being taught. They know about farm life and simpler living through their grandparents and family that were the generations before them. Boomers and their parents have much more wisdom then the current generation, Generation X, Y, or Z… The wisdom of the current generation is naught. It has been instead replaced by knowledge that is not knowledge. And the boomer generation seems to be on the same bandwagon. Every generation alive on this earth today is completely influenced by the world. The wisdom of the older and boomer generations need be acquired before they are all gone. Just as there was a huge population increase within 10 years, so too will be a decrease.

People can no longer think clearly. Wake up, America! Wake up, World! It has come time that the wheat is separated from the chaff. We are to take all of the fruitful contributions from our beloved previous generations, and we are to rid negative aspects, not embrace them. You cannot change the world if you are part of the world. Where is the movement? Why isn’t truth defeating the lies? The decent, productive members of any society have a responsibility to protect the next generation. Our children truly are the future.

An Amish Visit

My husband and I visited the Amish one day. We had no idea how to get to them nor what our intentions were upon meeting them. Neither of us had even spoken about the Amish before. We both buckled-up and drove 2 hours away from home letting God guide us. Feeling compelled to go, but having no sense of direction, my husband kept asking me along the way how and where and why we were going. I did not know the answers, and he continued to drive. We let a horse and buggy in front of us upon reaching a small town that we heard some Amish lived in. I told my husband to follow the buggy, which he did, and we stopped at the horse watering hole that it had stopped at. The young man seemed baffled to be hearing us speak (probably a little to do with our bewilderment about why we were there). We told him we felt compelled to speak with someone from his community. We felt like they would listen, like the Amish would talk about God and Christ like no one else we could find.

The young man did not recognize much of our english, but he told us about a road to look for so that we would be able to hopefully find someone to talk to. We drove around and stopped a couple of times at different Amish houses before being directed to the elder. The elder man greeted us curiously once we knocked on his door. He asked why the Amish man that we spoke to down the street couldn’t help us. We told him that he directed us his way, and the elder readily let us in his home. He and his wife were very curious about us just as we were about them. We spoke about our life and the Lord for over 6 hours. We laughed and cried together. It was so serene and peaceful. It was so welcoming. They spoke about their hardships, about a son who left their community. We spoke about our way of living. How we are trying desperately to disconnect from worldly things.

They had a small ‘shop’ outside their home that ‘English’ people could come to and purchase things from them that they made. The elder showed us around his property, and invited us to sit with him in his tiny ‘shop’ after being inside his house for hours. Everyone in the Amish community has a purpose. The young girls were labeling canned preserves. The young boys were rounding up the horses. Another child was playing with a huge monkey wrench on the front porch. More children were picking up fallen pecans from the pecan tree. Some were chasing the chickens. The sound of horse hooves on pavement was very mellowing. Different people from the community were stopping by while we were there to talk to the elder. They spoke in German to each other, but the elder would translate for us to let us know what was going on. It was as if time did not exist there. It seemed that these people do not toil about, worrying about what to do next, or being impatient & bored. They just lived.

Every religion has its negatives, but I believe the Amish are desperately holding on to their deeply steeped tradition in this world that would love to make them convert. I worry for their way of life. I worry and pray for the innocence of their children to stay pure. I cannot even describe the beauty that I saw in their sweet souls. I worry because the elders will be gone one day.

I’m not sure they understand the impact of allowing the youth to go into society to shop. Images pervert a person even if the person does not immediately realise it. There is a reason God warns us to not do certain things. The reason is because those things tarnish us. Those things dim our light. I recently watched a documentary about Amish culture. All of the people who left the Amish did so after seeing their appearance in a photograph for the first time (Amish do not use mirrors or photography, these photographs were taken by the person making the documentary). It was like a well placed snare of Satan. It was heartbreaking to watch. I have heard people talk about the Amish – usually they say derogatory things. American society would think it is abusive to have children working the way the Amish do. The children help with the farms, and help their family. They do not run about with electronic devices, but rather play in the dirt and trees. I think it is abusive that American society let children look upon pornographic imagery that is all over TV and media. The front covers of magazines at every checkout isle. Modesty, humility, and the Word of God seem to be a foundation that the Amish society is centered around.

I know that no religious practice is perfect, but I truly believe the Amish are desperately clinging to a way of life that keeps them humble & God-centered. The two beautiful people we met are our penpals now. It is amazing to feel the love and warmth of their culture through their letters. I pray that modern times do not force these people to change their way of life. I pray that the generations to come after the elders are gone will continue to respect and adhere to the ordinances of the Bible. If a reformation of their culture is to happen, I pray that it will be to better their strict rules and way of life to be even more centered on God, and less centered on trivial things. I believe that through the ages it is important for religions to check-up on themselves. Time has a way of solidifying ideologies that may not be God’s will, but more man’s tradition. We must all be sure to conituously grow in the Lord, and prevent ourselves from doing anything that will hinder that growth.

Jew & Gentile, Unite

sheep

Christians & Jews must throw away these labels we place on one another. We must unite with all Christian & Jewish believers. We must stop fighting amongst one another & ourselves about which doctrine is right or wrong.

And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand,”Matthew 12:25.

We know there is a war going on that is centered on our beliefs! It is centered on us. We must unite as Christians and as Jews, the gentile & Jew together. This unity is not to wage physical war. This unity is to put all of God’s light together! A city on the hill shines brightly, it cannot be hidden. Let us bring our common belief together. We must return to our Father.

Why are we so scattered, O sheep? Do we not read ? Do we not understand? His sheep are scattered! We must unite together. Put doctrine behind you. There are no good works that a man does alone, but guided by God, together we can. Nothing can stay hidden when the truth speaks. We know our God, and He is not the god Muslims refer to as allah. This mere indication is offensive to our Father, His holy name is being slandered throughout the media! Major Christian (God) influencers are saying allah is the same as our Father. There is only One Creator, His name is: I Am, The Alpha and the Omega, The Beginning and the End, Wonderful, Almighty God, who is and was and is to come, our Father in Heaven!

God is waiting for His people to return to Him. He has since the beginning. Yet the people who know Him and love Him are too busy quarelling amongst themselves & criticizing each other’s beliefs. The ultimate reality is we need to all unite for the common belief of God. He is from age to age the same! He is the God, the only God, of those who believe that He is who He says He is. Something must occur. If you know God is your Father profess it with all your being! Lose your affiliation labeling! Be modest and mourn – our people are scattered! Pray unceasingly for God’s people to reunite, together, with Him.

On Being Blind

What is the fear that people have about believing? Why does it completely erk some people when someone has belief? Why is it that people are so eager to have proof when they do not even strive to obtain this proof? It reminds me of little kids wanting something immediately and never working towards obtaining it. And all the while, these proofless people work deligently to make sure others feel silly for trying to obtain or believe that there may just be something that cannot be scientifically proven or disproven. People are putting their trust in man. People are putting their trust in medicine. People put their trust in other people that they know nothing about personally.

It really makes me think back to my school years when the popular opinion was the only opinion, and anyone that strayed from it was seen as a misfit. The world has gone back to popular opinion. God is not the popular opinion. Everyone seems to be able to find reason for why not to believe without ever even truly trying to believe. Why do nonbelievers work so hard to disprove something they have obviously never known? When you know, you know and there is no doubt, no way of going back to disbelief. People who neither know God, or who are trying to get to know God, should be on high alert of anyone trying to make them disbelieve. This is being said because these types of people do not have one’s best interests in mind. God brings peace, clarity, understanding, and a level of love that can only be obtained through Him. If anyone says they once believed, and then continue the conversation to try to make you disbelieve, then know that they never truly believed in the first place. Evil that does not recognize evil does not care to do evilly. It is really a sad condition that the human psyche gets caught up in – being and doing evil, but recognizing no wrong in themselves. Believers are to constantly test themselves, to stay aware of their current moral condition. Spiritual battles are real. Nonbelievers may pertain to doing ‘what is right’, but never understand the full extent of what they bring upon themselves by doing what is immoral. It is a really bad state of the mind, body, & heart because they do not clean themselves up by acknowledging and throwing out the wrongs to never return to them again. God gives a beautiful thing called repentance that allows believers to stay clean and prepared for tests, for battles.

Why is it that humans are so afraid to think there is something greater than themselves? Sounds egotistical, not logical. Knowing that we are in the age of ‘selfies’ and are building a godless foundation of selfish people, it is no surprise that nonbelief is rampant. The Bible holds all the keys for everything that is occurring. It’s just so hard not to deeply feel for the people that lack the true understanding. It would be amazing if the whole world could understand and know the truth; however, this is not what is going to happen, yet.

Keep praying in the meantime that those who do not believe for the sake of no tangible truth; for the sake of puffing themselves up; for the sake of spreading lies and deceit without fully being aware of doing so; for the sake of themselves feeling foolish; pray they come to understanding so that their talent of speaking openly will be of good use instead of evil gain.

Christianity vs Religion (‘Church’)

Christian‘ & ‘Religion (Church)’ are not the same thing. The two words can be used together, or they can be used separately because they are independent. A Church is seen as a building on this earth that people congregate in, and most would say these people are ‘Christians’. It may be so. It may not be so. One can be a Christian without attending Church thus being tied to the religion of a church (Methodist, Baptist, Catholic, Mormon, Church of God… And many, countless more). Church is truly held inside oneself. It is a time that should always be, and never end. For if we fall asleep in Spirit we will surely be tempted.

It is perplexing  (and at the same time it is clear) why Churches do not realise their demise. They are worldly, and they are trying to get as many people crammed into that material building as possible. They are causing nonbelievers to despise religion which is a word they associate to meaning God. Being religious does not equate to God. Church is not about football, cell phones, concert-like music, prom, worldly affairs… Anything taking place in a congregation other than the edifying of God is of the devil, of this world. Any church that practices true fellowsip would be a most rare find. Something I have yet to attend, but long to be brought to.

The spirit can never be quenched. Being in the Spirit does not just last for 2 hours of worldly Church time. The spirit is an armor that Christians always wear, least we be deceived by the world.

The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts. – Romans 13:12-14

Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth , and having  put on the breastplate of righteousness , and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace ; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  And take the helmet of salvation , and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.   With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the ssaint – Ephesians 6:13-18

This is not meant to be a bashing of the worldly Church. This is meant help others truly discern the Church. It is to awaken sleeping spirits to get on Jesus’ path, to crucify their flesh and walk always in the spirit.

For the orphans out there, the ones without faith, here is a challenge:

The proof – evidence- of God exists within the believer and is felt by other believers. Stop searching for signs as proof because there will not be any. If Churches have not brought you to salvation, question the Church, not the belief of God. Turn off the TV, cell phone, ipad, and anything that prevents you from sitting in silence. The world desires to keep your attention off of the truth, off of God. The world wants you to believe in falsities and worry constantly about foolish things. We are a creation filled with emotion. Not just a handful of feelings, but a multitude with varying degrees. The world works to suppress feeling. Empathy. Focus all of your attention on the desire to connect with God. Forget what anyone has taught you, and teach yourself with the help of prayer. Pray for understanding on the things you do not yet understand. Read the bible, His word. Then obey everything that we are commanded to do. Strive to obey every moment of everyday. God will move you.

I was a nonbeliever not too long ago, 1 1/2 years. I picked up the bible to find a quote from the movie Pulp Fiction. I read in Ezekiel that there would be no one to stand in the gap. I was moved to tears, and lead to salvation. The Bible is the most amazing book ever compiled. God will give insight to those that seek Him. I pray all the sheep will return hastily. It is time to leave this world of madness & corruption.

IRS & Jesus… what?

Then render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God the things that are God’s. Matthew 22:21

I owed $1600 on my $11,000 income.

I am self-employed. I enjoy working for myself so that I may set my hours, make things that bring people joy, and spend time with my family. I am able to freely speak of my concerns & beliefs in my workplace. I get to travel & I try to spread the light to others when I do. I do not seek to become rich, hence my self-employment, for it allows me to get by, fulfilling all of my needs without government assistance. As stated before, my abode is a small home that I love dearly, and I do not desire to keep up with the rat race that is taking place in society.

I can easily dismiss the distractions that are in the world; however, when the government is on you it is hard to overlook. Last year, I paid an accountant to do my taxes (the government should pay these people for the service of collecting their money). I owed $1600 on my $11,000 income. Let that sink in for a minute. This was indeed a very hard pill for me to swallow. I fretted needlessly. I worried continuously until I was finally able to pay-off my tax (debt) to the government. Of course, they charged interest along the way. The same circumstances have come around again this year. Making such a small income doesn’t really allow me wiggle-room to ‘put back’ the government’s portion of my income for the year to follow. I don’t even know if I will be alive the next year. This is not Big Brother’s concern; however, Healthcare is and now I am forced to have to pay monthly for it, but I digress. I find it ludacris that I am taxed in such a way on such a small amount of income. This, for me, is a stumbling block that I am trying earnestly to overcome. According to the government, I am living in what is known as ‘poverty’. The fact that my tax money goes to things that I do not support, instead of possibly helping other ‘impoverished’ peoples makes me a little upset. I’m in no way asking to be exempt from taxes, I’m just pleading “Why so much?” and “Why can’t I choose its destination?”.

If I were working for a company, and made this amount of income I wouldn’t even have to file taxes. If 22 different people paid me $500, I wouldn’t be taxed on it, I would have earned income credit. But, since I choose to be self-employed I must pay taxes on my meager earnings. Seems the government is confused. Seems the government is hungry for people who want to live outside of the ‘norm’ to have to pay exceedingly.

But again, I digress. I see Jesus’ words at the top of this blog, and I must remember to do just that: Render to the government what is the governments. No matter what happens, God will be with me so long as I have faith, even if it is a small as a mustard seed. God continues to take care of my family & me, and I will give every dollar I ever make if that is what is demanded of me. For worldly things are not my desire, but heavenly things are.

Yet again, Jesus is here to give me guidance that no man nor government can ever be wise enough to say or do on their own. Properly titled in my Bible ‘The cure for anxiety”.

And who by being worried can add a single hour to his life?  Matthew 25:27

So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 25:34

I will continue my lifestyle of living in the Lord. I will not be overcome, but I have, and will continue to overcome the world by the grace of God. I pray that others do not let the small things that are in this lifetime distract and prevent them from living a godly life. Pray hard. Pray unceasingly. And know that by the blood of Christ we are bought, money cannot buy anything that our Father has for us.

Satan & the suffering servant

That old bugger satan really likes to mess around with people all throughout their lives. However, we cannot fully blame satan because God allows satan to do these things. See, the thing is, God wants us to prove our worth to Him. God created Lucifer, and Lucifer wanted to exalt himself above God. There is some evil that God just cannot imagine. So, God cast His angel, Lucifer, who is satan on the earth, out of heaven and into the world. Satan answers to God. Satan can go before God’s throne. God allows satan to mess around on the earth so that us meeklings will glorify God even more, and prove our undying devotion to Him.

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and satan also came among them. The Lord said to satan, “From where do you come?”  Then satan answered the Lord and said “from roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.” The Lord said to satan “Have you considered my servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning from evil.”

Then satan answered the Lord “Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side?…. But put forth Your hand now and touch all be has and surely he will curse You to Your face.”

Then the Lord said to satan “Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him.” Job 1:6-12

So, satan departs from God’s throne, and sets off to do horrible things to Job and his family. He can do anything but kill Job. All the while, Job never curses God. He questions God. He wants to die. But in the end, his love for God grows stronger and more intimate.

God’s children are to one day be angels in His army. Why would our Father want a weak army? We are to be suffering servants on earth. God does not want another Lucifer in His army of angels in Heaven. We are tried on earth and refined by fire to prove we are willing to always do what is good by God. If found unworthy of God’s court of angels then to the devil we will go. Surely then man will know that He is the Lord thy God.

It will come about in all the land,” Declares the Lord, “That two parts in it will be cut off and perish; but the third will be left in it. And I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined, and test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are My people,’ and they will say, ‘the Lord is my God.'”Zechariah 13:8-9

So be on the alert for that serpent of old. Even through the trials in life, no matter how trying they may be. God is with you and will see you through as long as faith is there. If not, battling with the devil is so much worse. And there is no good ending without God. God does love us. Immensely. Uncorruptibly. He is our Father, watching us rise & undeniably fall. I cannot even imagine His pain. He endures it. He has a plan. We just have to believe with all our being.

Some people may believe that it is cruel for God to let satan try us. They may think ‘surely no loving God would purposely hurt their child.’. Since the very beginning, God’s creation of man has denied Him. God started creating laws for the humans to obey, yet of course they didn’t. They chose to be with the devil in the world and deny Him being their creator, their Father. Throughout the old testement God destroys, and gives His creation another chance. Then another chance. Saying along the way that surely they will recognize by these things that He is God. But still, mankind fails. Always falling for the wiles of satan. Don’t fall for it. God is not an easy way out. He does not just want to be around during hard times. He wants devotion in the best times, too. Pray hard. Pray unceasingly.

God does not want us to be robots. He gives us free will so that we may freely choose to love Him, or deny Him. He gives us free will so that we can be individuals. Of course, humans would freely love God if He would just prove Himself. But what kind of love would that really be? Shallow and selfish. Lacking substance from not being tested by faith. What reward would God have if we love Him because He makes us love Him? He wants us to strive to be perfect as He is perfect. Although no one can ever reach the glory of God, we are to aim to be perfect by obeying Him. By walking in the Spirit. By walking like Jesus.
